SKIN SAVERS REMEDIES: KEFIR (FERMENTED MILK)’S RECIPES
We learn from history for the present and the future. If rich people can afford something that others cannot then it's not much help for someone who has only a little pocket money. With fermented milk every one can afford a beauty treatment for the skin which is much cheaper than a commercial skin product, where advertising and packaging is the highest part of the price you pay. The product itself costs, in most cases, only a very small percentage of the retail price.
Kefir Recipes
Kefir Make-up Remover: 2 tbsp. kefir, 1 tsp. almond oil. Mix ingredients together shake vigorously. Dip cotton pads into lotion and cleanse the skin.
Kefir Cleanser: 16 tbsp. kefir, 2-1/2 tbsp. elderflower infusion, 2-1/2 tbsp. honey melted.
Place 2 teaspoons of dried elderflower (or one elderflower tea bag) in one cup of boiling water; allow to brew for 5 minutes. Strain to remove the flowers as necessary. Add honey and allow mixture to cool to room temperature. Add the kefir and beat for several minutes. Do not add the kefir to the hot infusion or the mixture will curdle. Store in refrigerator To use apply generously over the face and neck and clean off with damp cotton.
Kefir Toner: Suitable for all skin types 4 tbsp. kefir, 2 tbsp. of elderflower infusion, 1 tbsp. apple cider vinegar, 1 drop geranium oil. Mix in all other ingredients . Store in refrigerator and shake before applying generously over the face and neck. Massage into the skin, leave on for one minute, rinse with cool water.
Kefir Moisturizer: Suitable for all skin types. 10 ml kefir, 10 ml jojoba oil, 5 ml peach oil, 10 ml fresh aloe-vera gel. 5 ml fresh cream. Mix all ingredients and apply to the skin. Massage until the moisturiser is absorbed.
Kefir Clay Mask: 1 tsp. honey, 1/8 cup kefir, 1/2 tsp. of fuller's earth. Mix all ingredients together into a creamy, spreadable consistency. Apply to the face and neck, avoiding the eye area. Leave on for twenty minutes and then wash off with warm water.
Kefir Peach Mask: Moisturising and revitalising mask suitable for all skin. 1/2 ripe peach, 15 ml kefir, 1 egg yolk, 1 tsp. cornstarch. Place all ingredients in a blender. Mix until smooth.
